Trying to settle an argument. Bob says it's perfectly fine to answer the simple questions that do the rounds on Facebook sometimes (the one in question is "Do you personally know anyone who has tested positive or died due to the corona virus?", posted by someone Bob doesn't know). Alice argues vociferously that no you shouldn't answer these, there is some kind of data mining going on and someone's looking for potential targets for future misinformation. [more inside]

What are your favorite chill, silly, mildly intriguing or entertaining internet finds that I can use to build relationships with my high school students? We're learning virtually, and I had great success during fall semester with spending the first 10-15 minutes of class showing them something neat to play/discuss. But now we're headed into spring semester and I'm tapped out! Seeking anything you've seen on the internet lately that captured your interest for a few minutes. I've got examples inside... My mom's next door neighbor is snooping on my FB but doesn't have a profile I can block. [more inside]
I currently have things set up so that if I visit an interesting webpage I can share that page to Pocket and then IFTTT will publish that as a post in a Wordpress blog of mine. Is there a way to do this with less moving parts? Bonus points if it'll save a copy of the interesting webpage so that if the site goes down or changes I'll still have access to it. [more inside]
Are there other kids computer games that have similar dynamics / chill-ness like the recent release of Wildlife game?. It’s beautiful and really scratched an itch for my kids on the spectrum. [more inside]

I would think this would be simple, but...I'd like one of those hardshell cases that you clip on to your laptop. I've ordered a few from Amazon but they don't allow me to open the screen beyond 90 degrees, which is not particularly useful. Are there specific brands that fit and will allow a full range of the screen movement?
I am trying to de-dupe multiple terabytes of photos. I want a Mac app that will find all of the duplicate images (and only duplicates, not "similar" ones). [more inside]

Me and a group of friends want to migrate our group chat from Twitter to a more secure service. Yes we know nothing is private on the internet. [more inside]
I am helping a friend who needs to give an ex-partner a large amount of files from a shared 2013 family iMac. The files that need to be copied to a new external HD and handed off will include plain old word docs, lots of photos, probably some Adobe or similar design files, music files (in iTunes), tax software files/records, and possibly a few others categories. Can you help me get this done completely so all parties are satisfied? [more inside]
Please tell me what to even call this function on my macbook air, then how to delete it. [more inside]

Short version: is it possible to manage family members’ photos in iCloud family storage so that a specific user’s photos go into a specific folder instead of just into the main stream? [more inside]
I’d like to trade my 2017 iMac in for a 16” MBP, but I don’t understand how to evaluate what I’d need from the latter to make the swap worth the $$$. Given the details inside, do I need to splurge on both the graphics card AND the processor, or just one or the other? Thanks! [more inside]
I have an iPhone and Apple Music. They replaced “For You” in the app with “Browse” and I can’t reset the profile. My job requires me to listen to a lot of rap, which I don’t do on the app. But the app found out and keeps suggesting lots of rap albums. I don’t really listen to rap much except for work. How can I tell it not to suggest so much rap?
I have macOS Catalina version 10. I can't open Picasa at all and I don't see how to get an update either. Have I really lost access to those photos? Or is there an update I can use? (I did backup everything from Picasa onto CD's, years ago, if it comes to that. But I would rather be able to do things the easy way.) Please hope me!

Powered USB to SATA adapters to suit 3.5" SATA hard drives are very easy to come by. So are USB CD/DVD drives based on flimsy 5V-only laptop-grade drive mechanisms, and so are USB adapters designed to adapt to the SATA versions of those flimsy mechanisms. But I have had no luck tracking down a powered USB to SATA adapter that will let me use a solid reliable DVD drive of the kind typically fitted to desktop towers with my Raspberry Pi media player. My two-year-old Dell Inspiron has had two hard drives fail. How can I make sure something about the computer isn't killing them, or fix it if it is in fact a hard drive muncher? [more inside]
Six people want to watch the same movie at the same time, but it's a video file on my computer, not something on Netflix or whatever. What's the easiest/cheapest (free would be great) way to do this? [more inside]

Teen DTMFA wanted a new stylus, for drawing on her device (she really enjoys digital art). In the horror of being inside a real store with real people pre-Christmas, we grabbed the wrong thing: a Bamboo Ink Plus stylus that is only compatible with "pen-enabled Windows 10 devices". [more inside]
